Grading
When determining a quarterly grade the following areas are taken into consideration:
Tests & Quizzes
Other assessments (projects, portfolio work)
Homework assignments-based on doing the correct assignment, following directions, completion, neatness, quality
Classwork based on having the needed materials, attentiveness in class, on-task behavior and participation in individual, small and large group activities
Labwork--same as for classwork ---tape or other activities
Cooperative work--projects involving pairs of students or several students--responsibility to group and quality of product and presentation
Internet assignments are an integral part of this class. Sufficient time will be allotted for students to complete this type of work.
This will give all of the language skills--reading, writing, listening and speaking emphasis in your grade.
MARKING SYSTEM:
TEST = 100 POINTS
QUIZ = 20, 30, 40, 50, 60
(depends on amount of material covered)
24/30 = 80%
26/30 = 86.6%
27/30 = 90%
See interpretation chart given in class for other scores.
PROJECT VALUES WILL VARY.
DAILY WORK IS IMPORTANT!!! GOOD QUIZ GRADES WILL BOOST YOUR AVERAGE IF YOUR TEST SCORES ARE A BIT LOW. LIKEWISE, POOR QUIZ GRADES WILL DETRACT FROM GOOD TEST SCORES.
IT IS ALWAYS ADVISABLE FOR YOU TO KEEP AN ONGOING RECORD OF YOUR GRADES.
Students are:
urged to ask questions and/or seek assistance from me when the material being presented seems unclear.
required to make up all work when absent - worksheets, homework, study assignments, practice exercises, etc.
urged to practice speaking the language with the teacher and one another so as to attain fluency and good pronunciation.
